Sparkle in Grey is an Italian band from Milan, founded in 1999.
SiG released more than 10 records alone or in collaboration with other artists, including Controlled Bleeding, Maurizio Bianchi, I Camillas, Tex La Homa, Zacharia Diatta, Nicola Ratti, OvO, De Fabriek, Maisie, Radio Dervish, Giuseppe Ielasi, Kiddycar, Bourbonese Qualk and others…
Sparkle in Grey's instrumentation includes violin, viola, sax, bass, laptop, guitar, bagpipes, piano, drums, melodica, field recordings, harsh noises and a bicycle. In their careers they crossed many styles, from progressive rock to industrial to electronic to Ukrainian traditional folk music to post-combat rock.
It's always hard to play and publish. But they keep trying. Sparkle in Grey do not resign to extinguishing themselves. Resistance, resistance, resistance.
In their album reviews they've been compared to a long and strange list of various musicians, including Sol Invictus, Rachel's, Björk, Piano Magic, Autechre, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Epic 45, King Crimson, Durutti Column, Massive Attack, Neu!, Pan American/Labradford, Tuxedomoon and even Pink Floyd (?)...
