DESCRIPTION:

Do Sparkle in Grey sing? In more than 20 years of their career, the voice has been a sort of a hidden element of their music, tracks that can seldom be considered "songs". But since their birth, friends, collaborators and passers-by have lent their vocal talents to the Milan-based project.

Now, in the weird year that is 2021, Sparkle in Grey are finally releasing a whole album of "proper" songs. If we consider the CD included in the special and very limited "Scream Edition", the material here covers a span of exactly 20 years, from 2001 to today.

Most of these tracks are unreleased, some others are new versions of previously issued ones: you'll hear a lot of different voices, languages, voiceprints and the usual mass of instruments played by the band itself, including violin, sax, bass, guitar, harmonica, drums, percussions, laptop, electronics and an ocarina.

Sparkle in Grey even dare to sing on their own, in the (so far) unique track whose lyrics are written by Matteo Uggeri and sung by Alberto Carozzi. It's called "At the Gate". Although the track was recorded in 2018, it was pre-released as a single on April 25th 2020 in the very heart of the pandemic. All revenue from that single release was donated to a Milan charity that supports those who (more than others) are in difficulty by the consequences of the outbreak and of the lockdown.
