DESCRIPTION: "The Distance" is the result of a musical friendship between the Italian artists Alessandro Calbucci (which published records as From Hands with Mattia Coletti/Polvere and worked with artists such as Fabio Magistrali, Xabier Iriondo, Paolo Cantù, Jacopo Andreini and Damo Suzuki Network) and Matteo Uggeri/Hue, known as field recordist and for his work with Telepherique, Maurizio Bianchi/MB, Fhievel, OvO, Amon, De Fabriek, Giuseppe Ielasi and other musicians. Uggeri provided long unedited binaural field recordings to Calbucci, that dismantled them and played improvised sets of guitar loops and drones, overlapping his sounds to the distant bruises of fireworks, stones threw into a river cave and metal sculptures hitten with wooden tree branches. Afterwards, both artists again added some more tiny sound and gave a definitive shape to the record, adding a new last track, only made with wind wishtling through a door. The record is issued by Why Not Limited, a subsidiary label of Herbal, both owned by Malaysian artist Lee Kwang Goh. He published, among the others: Eric la Casa, Beequeens, Torturing Nurse, Dan Warburton and many others. 2009 |
