assembling sounds

I've lived alongside a computer since I was nine, back in 1983. From 1993 onwards, I began to use it, as far as I could, to assemble sound—perhaps even to 'play music', though I've never been certain the word truly applies.

Field recordings have accompanied much of my adult life: fragments of the everyday, gathered over time, while listening—almost incessantly—to music, and slowly opening into collaborations with others.

Out of this have emerged many projects, and many records to which I've contributed in shifting roles. At times I've been called a producer, or a sound designer.

Music remains one of the most elusive forms of expression; perhaps, in the end, I can allow myself to remain undefined within a practice that has sustained me for more than thirty years.

From here, other paths unfold too, including my work beyond music—engaging with games and learning. Play, by other means.
